Kickstarter reaches $1 billion pledges

Have you had a really good idea that would have changed the way we carry out certain tasks but lacked the funds? Fear not cause Kickstarter has now become a real entrepreneur of making dreams become reality. The crowd funding organization became so popular and sucessful that they managed to reach $1 billion funds mark. Although previously news about Kickstarter being hacked went public, the company seems to be running well. The record breaking numbers will influence even more dreamers to carry out their projects.

a billion contributions for Kickstarter
5.7 million Kickstarter users contributed
Kickstarter is known for such projects as funding Peeble smartwatch, Ocolus Rift gaming gear and for the upcoming "Veronica Mars" movie. The company was started five years ago, but the tremendous income has began to flow only in the last year or so. Kickstarter has helped 57,000 projects raging from gaming gear, movies, video games etc. 5.7 million people from 224 different countries contributed to the future of Kickstarter. United States citizens contributed the most - $663 million, UK being in second place with $54 million and Canada in third with $45 million. That has to be a really long shot, having in mind that on first day of Kickstarter the company pledged only around $1000 from 40 different people. This clearly shows a very sucessful job of the marketing and leading teams.

A new project has to have a deadline and a target for their funds. New investors pay for the "idea" only if the goal is reached. Usually, the contributors receive some form of preferential value for when and if the project is live. If the project is unsucessful and does not receive the neccessary funds, other money are refunded to the investors. Kickstarter receives 5% off every sucessful project and that way generates it's profits.

Research carried out by Kickstarter showed that Wednesday is the most sucessful day of the week for entrepreneurs, while the weekend being a bit of a downfall. The crowd funding projects are getting really popular with the likes of Crowdrise, RocketHub and Indiegogo already in the market. The future seems to be bright for the young dreamers as more and more companies like Kickstarter will emerge.
