Samsung to pay Apple another $290 millions

Last week in California, the jury came to the decision that Samsung is not yet off the hook and will need to pay $290 millions more. Let us come back to the fact that earlier, Samsung lost an appeal and had to pay $1 billion to Apple in a court process that has been going for over two years time. The Korean company is being prosecuted for violating Apple's copyrights and braking some of it's patent rights. $290 millions will be added to the whole sum of earlier court rulings. Apple wanted to win $379 million, where as Samsung admitted to the damage of only $52 million. To stir the fire a little bit more, companies have both pledged an appeal to the 2012's April ruling so this court's decision could basicly mean nothing.

The Apple and Samsung disagreement started when Apple accused Samsung of stealing the design and features of it's iPhone and iPad products. Samsung responded with accusations that Apple infiltrated into the Korean companies software and stole the patent features. Such software features as double-tap zoom are being carefully analyzed and used as an evidence. Apple vs. Samsung is now a world-wide confrontation with numerous case hearings all around the world, one thing is clear, that the agreement will not be reached easily.

Last week, Samsung ironically played a practical joke on Apple. They payed their $1 billion fine with 5 cent coins. 30 large trucks were filled with coins and sent to the headquarters of Apple. The court did not point out how the payment should be done so Samsung decided to make use of the situation and win something back by showing some disrespect to Apple. The action seems to have success as world-wide media quickly got hold of the situation and portrayed Samsung as the winner in this case. Samsung stated that Apple will now be able to use the coffee machine for the rest of their lives or simply melt the coins and build some computers.
