'Flappy Bird' game over

Yet another smart-phone game of birds managed to catch world-wide attention. The rise of Flappy Bird is hard to explain because the numbers are so overwhelming that the creator did not manage to cope with it. The reason why the game so quickly and so strangelly caught world-wide attention is the fact the it's ridiculously difficult and free. The concept is brutality simple, you need to steer the bird between large metal pipes by tapping your smart-phone screen, if the bird gets through, you get a point. However, if the bird hits the pipe, he immedeatelly falls down from the blue sky and dies.

The game looks so simple that it is diffucult for the player to comprehend how difficult it really is. By spending numerous hours trying to get a single point, eventually you proceed to chase the second point and you become caught in a circle of never ending flappy bird. While tapping the screen you do not notice how an hour, then a two and maybe a three passes. You won't understand how a successful intelligent man with a degree can not fly a stupid bird through the pipes. Usually this angers the player extensively.

Dong Nguyen kept his word.
Existential crisis, hurting finger, furiousness are among the traits that are inseparable from Flappy Bird and yet no one seems to be able to stop playing it. The Forbes editor, Paul Tassi, had this to say about the anger game: "What does that say about society as a whole? Have we reached a level of boredom bordering on dangerous if we're spending our time en masse on something so pointless?" and he is not far off the truth.

Dong Nguyen from a developers group called DotGears is responsible for these angry men and women. The Vietnamese game developer emphasizes that the game is unnecessarily complicated and should be easier. The games popularity kicked of in December, but it was originally released in May. The big boom of the App happened in mid-January where it became one of the most popular downloaded Apps in iPhone store.

The game had almost 800,000 reviews with an average of 4 out of 5 stars on App store and Android. I'm saying had, because it is no longer there. Dong Nguyen was so fed up with hundreds and thousands of emails and phone calls that he just had to shut down everything. Yesterday he tweeted saying that he can no longer take it and will shut down the game. He kept his word and by today morning the game was no longer available. The users were shocked and we'll have to wait to see what more will develop from this story.
